The League returned from the break with 20 games. After the week there are three weeks to go of the regular season.

Kärpät broke the limit of 100 points during the week. The team has now 107 points after 49 games. On the second place is Blues with 98 points with 49 games played. The fight for the third place was solved on Sunday when Jokerit made it to the overtime against Ilves making them third with 92 points after 49 games. That makes Tappara fourth with 91 points with also 49 played games. Pelicans is fifth with 90 points after 50 games and JYP is sixth with 81 points after 49 games. These are the six teams currently holding on to the direct play-off position.

The next four teams having the chances to the play-offs are HIFK, Ilves, Lukko and TPS.

Defenceman Kari Haakana from Kärpät played his League career's 400th game on Thursday when Kärpät played against HPK. He was rewarded before the game.

Defenceman Arto Laatikainen made Blues-history on Saturday when he played his League career's 522nd game in Blues-shirt.

Thursday's game between Lukko and SaiPa was linesman Antti Lajunen's career's 200th League game.


Transfers of the week:

Forward Jari Viuhkola signed a contract with Kärpät earlier in December for one and a half seasons. His first game was on Tuesday when Kärpät met KalPa. Due to a back injury he was not able to play earlier.
