The last games were meaningful for Jokerit, Tappara, Pelicans and JYP from the top six teams. Jokerit and Tappara battled for the third spot as Pelicans and JYP did the same for the fifth position. The battle for the winner's spot was taken place on the first Tuesday when Kärpät won Blues ensuring the win for the team.

HIFK and Ilves had also ensured their position, but TPS and Lukko had only one point difference before last Tuesday. However, both teams lost their last game making no difference to their placements.

Forward Janne Pesonen from Kärpät has been selected as League's player of the month for February. He was rewarded on the last Tuesday when Kärpät played against Jokerit.

The League and Philips have selected Tappara's forward Jori Lehterä as February's young player of the month. He was rewarded on Saturday's game when Tappara played against Ässät.

Defenceman Erik Hämäläinen played his career's 1000th League game on Saturday when Lukko met Kärpät. During his 21 League seasons Hämäläinen has played with 287 different teammates.

Referee Jari Levonen was rewarded for his career's 300th League game which he refereed on Thursday's game between JYP and HPK. This current season is Levonen's 7th in the League.
